Braces for black plastic cladding and 1” lift kit to be applied...

I am hopeful it will be a proper Avant and not an Allroad version.

NSFL Doug you say?

They would face backlash if they hype this up saying they’re bringing over the Avant and gave us an Allroad version instead. Plus they’re supposedly targeting the V90 and E400/E63 Wagons so I’m still confident.

Don’t fuck with my heart Audi!!!!

Is that the same V90 that’s only available as a custom order? Because I don’t think that helps your case much.

Something something SUPER
EXCITED over car I will really love, but won’t be able to afford until 8 years later when the repair bills are insane.

Hmm I honestly would probably only buy an S4 Avant right now (maaaaybe an A4 Avant). Here’s hoping, though! E-class estates are plentiful here so I’m sure I’ll get to feast my eyes on these, should they make their way over. When is the new A6 getting to the US, anyway?

OK E400/E63 then and it happens to be their closest competitior in this segment here in the US. Regardless, Custom order or dealer inventory, I’m sure they’re targeting a specific type of clientele that has both the money and the interest to buy a proper wagon and not a black-cladded lifted crossover wannabe.
They probably don’t want to piss of these people by saying they’ll bring over the Avant which is actually an Allroad. All I’m saying is it would hurt them to pull a Buick Regal TourX like GM did in US vs Europe. But we’ll see soon enough.

“He added the A6 Avant would probably cost around $60,000 or $70,000"

These are some nice looking wagons that I will never buy.

The 2019 A6s are out already

Don’ t worry they’ll be $20,000 to $30,000 in 5 years

Possibly the best strategy would to be like Volvo and put the Allroad that people are more likely to buy in the show rooms, but offer a non-cladded version for custom orders. The person who wants a real Avant will not be dissuaded by the wait, but the average person who maybe wants a sportier SUV will be able to get it. Given the American market, if they are forced to choose Allroad-style vs. normal, I’m pretty sure the choose the former.

Is that really a surprise? An A6 starts at $58k
![]() 03/08/2019 at 13:17 |

Makes me wonder how much they’ll lose off the lot . I hope wealthy folks buy them so Audi thinks about doing an S4 Avant .

Was a surprise to me, but I’m also not a new Audi buyer by any means. Article said that is Q7 money (Q7 starts at 53!) which was also a surprise but then again, I’m not up on luxury SUV pricing either.

Audi might be just being real and knowing no one in the US wants wagons, save for the few who will pony up if they have the cash. Since they’re guaranteed to be super-low volume, you may as well jack up the price and squeeze the BBW lovers for all they’re worth.

The Mercedes E450 wagon and Jaaaaaaag Sportbrake both start at $64k. Most of them really have MSRP’s of $70k++, although you can get a discount on the Jaaaaaag (good luck on the Merc).

Well I’ll be damned. At those prices I’m guessing the Q8 is cutting into sales considerably.
